About ten old French sheets (circa 1930). Publisher "Editions Willeb Paris", author: Henri ISELIN.

Ssmall French sheets ( they are small, about 10x20 cm. Smaller than the current A5 format, smaller than a postcard ... ), with three different subjects, from "Editions Willeb" of Paris.

We don’t know the year but from the paper used ( a gray, rough and thick cardboard ) and the type of color I think they may be from the pre-war period, between 1930 and 1940. Perhaps they are older.

But we know the author (who signed some of his paper soldiers). Henri ISELIN, a French illustrator active from the 1920s to the 1960s in France and Belgium.

Henri Iselin was not only an illustrator but also a writer about historical subjects. He was recognized as a specialist in maritime affairs and more generally in the history of transport.

He reached his heyday in the French magazine "Vaillant" during the second half of the 1950s. But already in the 1920s he drew gags for a famous comic, Le Cri-Cri. Before the war, in the years 1933-34 and following, he already made comics, in particular on Bon Point Illustré. From 1945 to 1949 he designed for the Belgian magazines Wrill and Sabord. For Jean-Bart magazine he designed the 'Buffalo Bill' comic, which was published by the publisher Marcel Daubin in 1945. For the Gordinne publishing house, he designed 'Les Flibustiers de la Jamaïque'. And it was in the late 1950s that he created illustrations for Vaillant.
