Yes. I think, and I searched a lot on the internet, only here, in this forum, there's a real evolution about the historical paper soldier ( as already I have said to some of you these artworks exceed the quality of many digital products for sale on RPGNow. So I am a little sad that they are not sold ).
Authors ( and gamers ) from United States and other european countries prefer to draw not-historical "paper miniatures" ( fantasy, sci-fi, strampunk, survival horror ... ) to use with their games ( RPGs, not-historical wargames, boardgames ...). Often these are great products. But they are not "paper soldiers." This is because it is easier to draw them imho (historical accuracy is not needed), but mainly because they are derived from 32 mm. metal miniatures as warhammer eg, and they are not the evolution of the "paper soldiers" ( which is a tradition that has become much more than one hundred years ) imho.
So I'm very lucky that I found here the "Law of spiral development".
Even here in Italy the situation is more or less equal. Indeed, perhaps it is worse. Basically here there is not a current paper figures' ( paper soldiers or paper minis ) production. There is only a small group of enthusiasts and collectors who collects old sheets of paper soldiers and their digital reproductions.
To tell the whole truth. A very good author, here in Italy, there is. Vittorio GORINI. I really like his plates ( they are real paper soldiers. As they used to be. Sadly, for me, for various right reasons his figures have no backs. I prefer figures with drawn rear ).
He has studied for years uniforms, the indian war colors ... before drawing his figures. But there are not digital files of his works . He only sells paper sheets.
I pass to other subject. Are you interested in seeing sheets of very old ( 1920 ... 1950 ... ) paper soldiers representing Russian warriors and soldiers products in other uropean countries ( Spain, France, Italy ...) ?
